Elon Musk, the director of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Donald Trump administration 2.0, was purportedly considering relocating to his office in the West Wing of the White House, specifically the Oval Office. Nevertheless, US President Donald Trump has clarified that a distinct office has been established for Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his staff. Additionally, it is not a component of the Oval Office.
On Saturday (January 25), Trump responded categorically to a question regarding Musk’s office in the West Wing during a press briefing: “No, no, not – it’s not Elon’s office.”
“We have an office that is designed to ensure that every executive order I issue is executed, rather than remaining inactive for three months.” Trump stated, “And we will have approximately 20 individuals, possibly more, working out of that office.”
Trump continued to discuss the office and the responsibilities of its employees, stating, “There are approximately 20 to 25 individuals who will be working out of that office, and it is a “go get ’em” office to ensure that it is completed.” “That is what it is.”
As per The Times, Musk’s senior leadership team will be situated in the Eisenhower executive office building, which is situated on the White House grounds but is a brief distance from the main complex, across a road.
The emergence of DOGE is facilitated by Trump 2.0.
In November, Trump proclaimed the establishment of DOGE with the objective of “restructuring federal agencies, reducing wasteful expenditures, reducing excess regulations, and dismantling government bureaucracy—all of which are essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”
Trump and Musk have asserted that $2 trillion could potentially be saved; however, the majority of experts contend that this is not feasible without substantial reductions in essential social services or benefits.
The White House announced on January 20, which was last week, that the United States Digital Service will be publicly renamed as the United States DOGE Service (USDS) and will be located in the Executive Office of the President.
