Report: India's Latest Jasprit Bumrah Setback Before the Champions Trophy Squad Announcement

Jasprit Bumrah’s injury could keep him on the sidelines for a long period

Jasprit Bumrah isn’t just likely to miss the upcoming ODIs against England but is in doubt for Champions Trophy too.

It appears that India’s best pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, had a more serious injury than initially believed during the fifth and final Test match against Australia in Sydney. When Bumrah left the field for a hospital on Day 2 of the Test, the ailment was described as a simple “back spasm,” but the problem is probably going to keep him out of action for a longer amount of time. According to a report, Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy is also in jeopardy, even though he is expected to miss the entire white-ball assignment against England, which consists of five T20Is and three ODIs.

The selectors are eager to prevent Bumrah from missing any more important games for India because of injury concerns. Because of this, it is practically impossible to risk the senior pacer against England. According to a RevSportz report, Bumrah is anticipated to make it to India’s Champions Trophy roster despite his injury issues, albeit his participation will be subject to restrictions.

If Bumrah is to play in the ICC event, the team management would need permission from the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) medical personnel.

“A little frustrating (on injury), but sometimes you have to respect your body, and you can’t fight your body,” Bumrah had stated following the Sydney Test. “You have to accept things sometimes. I wish I could have bowled on the series’ spiciest wicket. felt a little uneasy following the first inning.

Among the hitters, Yashasvi Jaiswal is destined to be a member of both the 50-over and T20 lineups against England, as well as India’s ODI team. However, the selectors are only using Jaiswal as a backup opener.

Alongside Shubman Gil, Rohit Sharma is anticipated to start as the team’s captain. Virat Kohli would bat at number three and Shreyas Iyer at number four, respectively, after them.KL Sanju Samson isn’t a serious candidate for the wicket-keeping position, although Rahul and Rishabh Pant are currently vying for it.The spin combination of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav is anticipated to be formed, while the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is also anticipated to select Washington Sundar.

Although there isn’t much certainty regarding Nitish Kumar Reddy’s attendance at the major event, Hardik Pandya is also expected to be added to the roster. Another spinner that the selectors are considering is Varun Chakravarthy, although it hasn’t been established yet if he is compatible with the 50-over format.

Mohammed Siraj, an Indian bowler, is anticipated to be rested for the Twenty20 International series against England, but his name would probably be on the roster for the One-Day International match against the same team. Alongside Arshdeep Singh, he is also anticipated to be selected for the Champions Trophy.
