KOHIMA: The Christian-majority state of Nagaland celebrated Christmas with great religious zeal, as people participated in special prayer services and enjoyed festive feasts.
Homes, streets, government offices, and commercial buildings were adorned with decorative lights and Christmas stars, while revelers gathered in groups on Christmas Eve Tuesday night, singing carols and wishing everyone a “Merry Christmas.”
As the clock struck midnight, fireworks illuminated the sky, and the sound of church bells echoed through the air.
On Wednesday morning, people flocked to churches in their finest attire to attend prayer services, where sermons focused on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ.
People were encouraged to forgive one another and embrace the new year with love and compassion, as taught by Jesus Christ. The Christmas feast was also shared with non-Christians, spreading joy and unity.
Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Legislature Party leader Y Patton extended their Christmas greetings to everyone on the joyous occasion.
Governor Ganesan, in a message, said, “As we celebrate this joyous Christmas season, may it bring peace, hope, and light into your life. This time of reflection and togetherness reminds us of the importance of love, kindness, and gratitude.”
He also expressed the hope that everyone’s home be filled with warmth, hearts with contentment, and days with abundant blessings.
