KOHIMA: In celebration of its Golden Jubilee and the 2nd Triennial Session of the Hakchang Students’ Union, Hakchang Village has officially declared itself a “Drug-Free Zone.”
The declaration was made during the workshop on “Holistic and Critical Approach towards Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,” which was organized by the Hakchang Students’ Union (HSU) in collaboration with the Tuensang District Legal Service Authority on December 29 at Hakchang Baptist Church.
According to the planning committee, the pledge at the workshop was taken by representatives from Hakchang Village, including Nato Y Chang, A B Sadang – Village Council Chairman, C Yonga – Citizen’s Union President, O Nato – Students Union President, Rev. B Sangbou – Pastor of Hakchang Baptist Church, and L Nyemteng – Women’s Organisation President, with joint signatories committed to extensive remedial measures.
The workshop featured resource persons including Advocate Anti Mangyang, Yongkong Toshi UBSI – DEF Tuensang, and Alemba H, Executive of the Nagaland Users Network.
The topics covered included the “Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act 1985,” addressed by Advocate Anti Mangyang, “Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking,” shared by Yongkong Toshi UBSI, and “Consequences & Recovery,” presented by Alemba H from the Nagaland Users Network, based on his personal experiences.
