Chümoukedima Ao Youth Organization Condemns Extortion by NSCN-K (Khango) Group
KOHIMA: The Chümoukedima Ao Youth Organisation (CALT) vehemently condemned the harassment and extortion attempt of ₹50 lakh allegedly made by the NSCN-K (Khango) faction against the prominent member of the locality, Aolemba Lkr, on December 16, 2024.
In a press statement, CALT highlighted that Aolemba Lkr is not only a very respected resident of 7th Mile Chümoukedima but also a very active member of the organization.
In addition to this, Aolemba is the chairman of the Country Craft Development Society and is an award-winning personality by both the President’s and Governor’s awards for his outstanding contribution to the state of Nagaland. Such a person deserves kudos and protection, not intimidation and harassment, argued CALT.
An FIR addressing the incident was filed at Chümoukedima Police Station on December 17. Still, CALT expressed its discontent with the lack of progress in identifying and arresting the culprits behind the extortion demand.
CALT has called on law enforcers and other responsible bodies to expedite bringing the perpetrators to book. The youth body also called for the protection of its members and a safe society.
The incident has raised so much concern that CALT restated its commitment to standing by its members and fighting for justice in such challenges.
